WE SHARE SOME MOVEMENTS
Rough and gentle, precise and delicate. Everything is just right here. Every action performed in the vineyard or the winery reflects both the terroir and the history of the vintage. The two estates work to support each other. Exchanging and cross-referencing information allows both estates to learn and grow: overcome issues, listen to the plants, and anticipate events affecting the other bank.

PRESERVE THE TERROIR, NURTURE BIODIVERSITY
PRESERVE THE TERROIR, TAKE CARE OF THE ROOTS
On the left bank, nature does its work with human encouragement. Beekeeping and plantations help to enhance biodiversity at Rauzan-Ségla. The estate’s hives provide information about the surrounding natural world. Nature is also well cared for! Orchards, trees, inter-row seeding, hedgerows or fallow land for honeybees – the art of winegrowing goes beyond just the vine itself here. Médoc flora and fauna create a balanced living environment.
On the right bank, preserving soils’ biological life and stability relies on age-old expertise. Depending on the plot, the limestone block can be just twenty centimetres from the surface, requiring precision. On the Canon estate, horses work alongside people to ensure proper balance between protective grass cover and competition with the vines. Plant physiology, care for the roots, anti-erosion seeding – everything has been carefully thought out to maintain the stability of the soils between the rows and prevent them from being compacted.

OUR WORK AT RAUZAN-SÉGLA
OUR WORK AT CANON

SHOWCASING THE MATERIAL – AN ANCESTRAL PRACTICE
SHOWCASING THE MATERIAL – DEMANDING WORK
Well-considered actions in the winery, now a rare commodity. Ancestral techniques are the order of the day to gently clarify the wines. This work is based on instinct and knowledge. Racking is performed with a candle every three months. At the end of the maturation process, clarification is performed via fining with egg white, creating crystal clear wines. A year and a half of meticulous care to showcase each nectar.
Cold maceration reveals the full power, fruitiness, colour and density of Château Canon wines. This showcases the aromas, selected with a knowledge of the limestone soils and their tannin and anthocyanin indicators. Small barrels are paired with large wooden vats to enhance aromatic complexity. These initiate a new level of oxygenation. Aromas are refined.

BLENDING THE WINE – CREATING HARMONY
BLENDING THE WINE – REVEALING ITS POWER
At Rauzan-Ségla, every blend is a work of construction. A constant pursuit of perfect balance, prompted by the diversity of the estate’s soils. We have to taste, consider, return, combine and adjust. Fit various voices together to create harmony for the senses and samples. Complexity, depth, broadness, sufficient length, fieriness or gourmet style, and a structure that will stand the test of time... The finest combination of all of these is what makes up the vintage.
Blending Château Canon is a labour of unity. Terroir sets the tone of the vintage, revealing a powerful soloist in every batch: the voice of the limestone plateau. The blend is quickly established. All the batches go together to create a fine wine, with humans adjusting the proportions. The artwork is refined so that it can shine.

A SHARED VISION
A terroir, a plant, and a year of rainy or sunny skies stand behind everything we do. Moving towards the future means supporting life. From one bank to the other, we share our experiments to spread good practice. The heart of our vision is a commitment to CSR (corporate social responsibility), which has inspired numerous activities, including carbon impact assessments and conversion to organic growing (first certified vintage in 2024).

UNDERSTANDING AND SUPPORTING PLANT LIFE
BUILDING AND COMMITTING TO RESPECT
At Rauzan-Ségla, the path to organic certification has already been overtaken by a growing experiment. We are seeking to gain a better understanding of plant life and its mechanisms. To respect and strengthen them.
Nettles, horsetail, meadowsweet, comfrey and yarrow all work to support the vines, as a herbal tea or infusion, in brews, manure or fermented extracts. Sending out good messages so that each vine can defend itself. Depending on the season or as required, each plant reveals its hidden talent and regains its full health.
Holding ‘Excellent’ HQE environmental certification, Château Canon’s new winemaking centre reflects its commitment – to the people, resources and directions of tomorrow.
A broad process has been going on here in the background for many months. Energy, materials, waste, rainwater: in this vital space for the teams’ everyday work, everything is designed to ensure maximum respect for the local environment.
